Easy & Best Way to Do Your Christmas Shopping

It’s almost Thanksgiving, and while that means a lot of things, it means, perhaps most importantly, that Christmas shopping is in full swing. Regardless of whether you are planning to hit the shops on Black Friday or not, you need a plan to do it the right way. Christmas shopping is something that has evolved over the past few years.

Not only are there more ways to do your shopping (Black Friday, online shopping, deals, coupons, etc.), but there are even more ways to pay for it (gift cards, cash, credit cards, debit cards, etc.) Between the ways to shop and the way to pay, there are almost infinite strategies to accomplish your Christmas shopping.

You may be tempted to just go with the flow, but please don’t do that. It could cost you in more than one way. Fortunately, I’m going to help you perform your shopping the right way.

How NOT to Do Your Holiday Shopping

There are a number of ways people shop for Christmas that is just all wrong. Here are a number of those bad examples:

#1 – Buying Presents Based on the Number of Trips to the Mall

How many of you had said, I only want to physically go shopping X number of times? This may sound like a great plan to save yourself time from going out too many times. Unfortunately, this is a bad idea. What happens is that when you do this, you spend more money than you would have otherwise – primarily because you are worried about having to go out another time if you don’t get enough.

#2 – Not Keeping Track of Your Shopping

Have multiple people to buy for? Everyone wants different things. The last thing you want is to disappoint the people you love by getting them less or forgetting to pick up something that was essential. While I’m not advocating to get everyone everything that they ask for, not keeping track is setting yourself up for guaranteed failure. There are too many things that can go wrong.

How to Shop the Right Way

While there are a number of ways that people can shop the wrong way, the right way to do it is quite simple.

#1 – Use a Rewards Credit Card to Buy all Your Gifts

Too many people use cash. While this may sound like a great idea to control your spending, you are actually leaving money on the table. Why not use one of the best rewards credit cards to do all of your shopping. This way, you get a small percentage back.

Another benefit is that it is easy to track your spending by looking at the credit card statement.

#2 – Compare Prices Online & Buy in Store when Cheaper

The other thing that will define the best way to do your shopping is to compare prices online. There’s no reason to go to the store just to see a price, then drive to the next store to look at the other price. You can also use Coupon Sherpa to compare promo codes between stores and decide which one gives you the most savings. Why not use the internet to your advantage? This will make your life a lot easier and less stressful.

Buying your holiday presents is a challenge, but it doesn’t have to be. Simplify your shopping plan and show everyone you care.
