In today’s tough economy, dating has become increasingly more difficult. For many people, gone are the days where they could blow hundreds of dollars on a date. Learning to be economical has become more important than ever. Fortunately, it is possible to have a romantic date without spending a ton of cash. It’s simply a matter of investigating less expensive, but equally romantic alternatives.
It is important to keep in mind that romance is created by the people, not the ambience, food, drinks or how much money is spent. As long as two people are enjoying each other’s company, any time, place or date can be romantic. To help those who are short on ideas, we have listed several cheap romantic dates below.

1. Homemade Dinner and a Bottle of Wine: Preparing a homemade meal while sharing an inexpensive bottle of wine can go a long way in terms of romance. Check online for free recipes and enjoy each other’s company while cooking great tasting fare.
2. Ice Skating: During the winter months, many cities will build an outdoors ice skating rink for their residents. This makes for a relatively cheap date. It’s also romantic. The cold weather makes cozying up mandatory, which is bound to get the romance started.
3. Comedy Show: Forgo the big names in favor of comics trying to make a name for them-selves. This is a great way to share a good laugh with the person you are interested in. What’s more romantic than that? Remember, even the comic greats were once amateurs, so there are bound to be some really good acts.
4. Board Games: Board games can be a lot of fun. They can also be romantic when competing with one’s date, boyfriend/girlfriend or significant other. A sexy game of Twister can be a lot of fun. Even Scrabble is a great option. Up-the-ante by playing for a romantic prize.
It is not necessary to spend a ton of money for a date. The amount of money spent does not determine how romantic a date is or isn’t. Cheap romantic dates can be just as enjoyable as more expensive ones. Whether or not a date is romantic is more dependent on how much fun a couple is having rather then how much money is being spent. Good company and lots of laughter can be very romantic and neither cost any money at all.

It is funny you should mention games. This is what my hubby and I do a lot. It is so much fun. We can sit, visit, laugh, and see who wins. Plus it costs nothing. We also like going for walks or playing frisbee outside.
